Future-World-Cafe

Saturday, 1.6.24 - 10-12 h with Simon Völker

In times of multiple crises, we are becoming increasingly aware of one thing:tomorrow's world will look different from today's - whether "by design" or "bydisaster". But how can we prepare for a world whose shape is completely uncertain? In the Future World Café, we dare to take an open look at the diversity of possible futures of our society. By describing specific future scenarios, be they dystopias or utopias, and situating ourselves in them, we will explore possible courses of action and strategies in a variety of starting situations. The aim is to strengthen our mental resilience regarding a radically uncertain future and our ability to act in the present.

Simon Völker is a student in the master’s program "Ökonomie - Imagination - Zukunftsgestaltung" at the Hochschule für Gesellschaftsgestaltung (hfgg), a young university in Koblenz, which is dedicated to new forms of economic education in order to work towards shaping an economy that is beneficial to life. Simon is an experienced facilitator of "4FutureLabs" - an educational format developed at the hfgg that aims to enable people to design alternative and, above all, desirable futures, to unleash positive creative powers in the present and to plan and implement concrete steps for action.
