Work is at the heart of our society. As the central means of material reproduction in our society, work provides the goods and services we need to live. Work is important for social participation. Work creates identity. Being without work is one of the worst things in our society. But being in work also causes suffering for many people. We spend the majority of our waking hours at work. In an externally determined relationship of authority. Work drains our energy and, above all, our time. We hardly have any time left for the really important things: friends, hobbies, political engagement. We know that things can't go on as they are. We have to get our time back! But how? In this workshop, we will take a look together at the organization of social work and the resulting time conflicts. We will briefly immerse ourselves in the history of struggles for time, which show that reducing working hours is possible for everyone and not just a utopian dream. Together we will explore what a radical reduction in working hours means for the demand for a good life for all.
